Recently, South Australia and the ACT have updated the current immigration situation. Overall, the states are striving to negotiate with the Department of Home Affairs for the final allocation for the 2025-26 financial year. In the meantime, they have taken proactive steps regarding interim allocations. These are positive signals for candidates awaiting opportunities for the 190/491 visas in this financial year.
๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐:
The Commonwealth Government has provided South Australia with a temporary allocation for the 2025-26 financial year. Given the limited number of interim allocations, Skilled and Business Migration (SBM) will not open the portal for new Registration of Interest (ROI) submissions and will instead focus on inviting strong applicants who can contribute to the stateโs workforce needs, including those from ROI submissions made in the 2024-25 financial year. Once the Commonwealth Government provides South Australia with its full allocation, SBM will announce comprehensive policy settings for this financial year.
๐๐๐:
The first invitation round for the 2025-26 program year has not yet been scheduled. It is unlikely that the ACT will proceed with invitations until the Department of Home Affairs announces the final nomination allocation. However, given the uncertainties this year regarding quotas and immigration allocations, this plan may change on short notice.

Update 8 Jul. 2025
South Australiaโs two Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) have been extended until 30 June 2026.
The current DAMA occupations are retained and can be accessed on the “Move to South Australiaโ website.
South Australia has also retained the age concession of up to 55 years, a 10% reduction to the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT), as well as English and work experience concessions.
From 1 July 2025, occupations listed on specific Industry Labour Agreements can no longer be utilised under the South Australian DAMA program if the occupation is also available on an Industry Labour Agreement.

Update: 26 Mar. 2025
The new agreement features an expanded occupation list, more nomination places and streamlined application processes for NT employers.
It is expected that the online application portal will open for new endorsement applications under NT DAMA III by 31 March 2025.
Businesses with existing labour agreements under NT DAMA II who require additional ceiling places or would like to access new occupations/concessions available under NT DAMA III will need to lodge a new endorsement application for an NT DAMA III labour agreement once the application portal opens.
Businesses with existing labour agreements under NT DAMA II can continue to lodge nomination applications under their approved ceilings.
The Northern Territory government is currently updating their website and online application portal to reflect the NT DAMA III and these should be available shortly.
