Australian Educational Qualification

Degree, diploma, advanced diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution which took at least 2 years of full-time study and was taught in English.

Specialist Educational Qualification

A Masters degree by research or a Doctorate degree from an Australian educational institution that included at least two academic years in a relevant field (Natural and Physical Sciences, Information Technology or Engineering and Related Technologies).

Credentialled community language

You must have been accredited at the Paraprofessional level or above, certified at the Certified Provisional level or above, or have a Community Language Credential for interpreting or translating by the NAATI

Study in Regional Australia

You must have at least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution that satisfies the Australian study requirement obtained while living and studying in an eligible area of regional Australia

To be eligible for the award of points your educational qualification:

  • must meet the Australian study requirement
  • have been obtained while you lived in, and studied at a campus in a designated regional area
  • not include study undertaken by distance education

Professional Year in Australia

Did you complete a professional year program in Australia in your nominated skilled occupation for at least 12 months in the 48 months immediately before the time of invitation to apply for the visa?

* Where a Professional Year program was completed, Professional Year within the 48 month period prior to the time of invitation, you may be awarded 5 points. To avoid any doubt, you could have commenced the Professional Year at a time before the 48 months prior to invitation. The time you “completed” a Professional Year is the date listed on your official Record of Completion which is issued by the authorised body or Professional Year program delivery partner.

Partner Qualifications

Do you have a partner (spouse or de facto partner) who meets the following criteria?

  • My partner is aged under 45, and
  • My partner has Competent English, and
  • My partner is an applicant of the same subclass of visa as me, and
  • My partner nominated a suitable skilled occupation and obtained a positive skills assessment (that is not for a Subclass 485 visa)
