Rights
- Work in Australia for up to 2 years (or up to 4 years with an International Trade Obligation, or up to 5 years for Hong Kong passport holders).
- Study without government assistance
- Travel to and from Australia without restrictions while the visa is valid.
- Apply for permanent residence if you meet the eligibility requirements (By the end of 2023).
GENERAL CONDITIONS
To apply for this visa, you need to meet the following criteria:
- You must be nominated by an approved sponsor for a job in an eligible short-term skilled occupation.
- You can work only for your sponsor or their associated entity, unless exempt.
- You must have the necessary skills, qualifications, and work experience for the nominated occupation. Some applicants need to undergo a skills assessment, while others must provide alternative evidence.
- You must have at least two years of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation or a related field.
- You must meet the health and character requirements.
- You need to have a minimum level of English language proficiency, unless exempt. Examples include PTE 36 Overall (All bands 30) or IELTS 5.0 Overall (All bands 4.5).
- You must demonstrate that you are a genuine applicant with a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia and comply with any visa conditions.

PROCESS
Upon the official approval of the sponsorship (which lasts for 5 years), the company has the ability to select positions that will be occupied by overseas employees.
Moreover, the overseas employees are granted the opportunity to proceed with the visa application process.
For a company to become a standard business sponsor, several criteria must be met, such as:
- The company must possess a legally and actively established business structure, (e.g., company, trust, partnership, registered business name).
- The business should be in a stable financial state.
Requirements for a nomination include:
- The position must be genuine and full-time.
- The employee should work within the sponsoring company unless it is an associated entity.
- The salary offered should align with market rates and does not fall below $53,900 (or $70,000 from 1 July 2023).
- Labour Market Testing must be conducted, unless specific exemptions are applicable.
- The occupation must be listed on the relevant occupation lists.
