Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is a temporary visa that allows international students to live, study, and work in Australia after finishing their studies.

Eligibility Criteria for Subclass 485 Visa

To be eligible for the Subclass 485 visa, you must:

1. Age

Applicants must be under 36 years of age at the time of lodgement (certain exceptions apply).

2. Visa Status

You must hold an eligible visa and have held a Student visa in the 6 months immediately before you apply.

3. Qualifications

Have recently completed a qualification from a course registered with CRICOS.

4. Submission requirements

Apply under the correct visa stream (note: you cannot change streams after lodgement). Attach all required documents and supporting evidence at the time of application.

Post-Vocational Education Work stream

  • Recent international graduates
  • Hold an Associate Degree, Diploma, or Trade Qualification.
  • Nominate an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

Post-Higher Education Work stream

  • Recent international graduates
  • Completed a degree at an Australian registered body.

Second Post-Higher Education Work stream

  • Current Temporary Graduate visa holders in one of the following streams:
    • Post-Higher Education Work stream
    • Post-Study Work stream
    • Replacement Visa
  • Hold a qualification from an Australian institution located in a regional area.
