As the 2025-26 migration program year draws to a close, several Australian states and territories have officially stopped accepting applications for state nomination.

Here are the latest updates for skilled migrants pursuing permanent residency through the Subclass 190 and 491 visa pathways
Closed to offshore applicants from 25 November 2025 and officially stopped accepting new applications on 30 March 2026.
Closed its application intake on 28 April 2026.
Officially stopped accepting applications today, 2 June 2026.
Will close its application intake on 3 June 2026. The final invitation round is scheduled for 4 June 2026.
Has already completed its final invitation round for this financial year on 6 May, according to previously published information.
The state has paused invitation rounds for the Subclass 190 visa and has already conducted invitations for the 491 Pathway 2 stream. While additional invitation rounds may still take place, the remaining allocation is limited.
Approximately 80% of the Subclass 491 allocation has already been used, while opportunities under the Subclass 190 pathway remain available for suitable candidates.
No official closure announcement has been made yet. However, applicants are encouraged to prepare their applications as soon as possible, as the remaining allocation is also becoming limited.
With more states closing their nomination programs and available allocations continuing to shrink, applicants should closely monitor state migration updates to avoid missing the final opportunities of this program year.
